Pattaya joined with the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society to improve the city’s technological foundation.
Pattaya and The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society have joined with the aim of improving the technological foundation of the city. On April 11, Mayor Anan Charoenchasri presided over a meeting on the development of the city together with an official of Digital Economy Ministry and department chiefs of Pattaya. According to the mayor, the ministry had chosen Pattaya, Chiang Mai, Bangkok, Khon Kaen and Phuket as pilot cities for a “smart city” project. The project will allow the use of modern technology for logistics, payments and the development of small businesses.
The government is planning to send invitations to top technology companies from United States, Europe, China and Japan to make investments in innovation as well as new technologies, which includes data centers, artificial intelligence and more in the East. During the meeting, plans were laid out by the officials to consider and define how the digital economy can aid in the improvement of tourism as well as generate revenue.
