Jomtien is widely known as the best tourist destination in the region for those that seek not only great nightlife, but also a more laidback experience than downtown Pattaya. Aside from the various nightlife and entertainment zones that ensure a great evening’s entertainment is assured, Jomtien is home to some fantastic international-style restaurants such as the classy Akvavit Bar & Grill on Jomtien Beach Road.
Akvavit Bar & Grill is known as the place to sample the finest choice of international flavors with a Scandinavian twist. Head Chef, Pelle Pettersson, was formally known as the man who helped put the famous News Café on the map in Jomtien, but this time he has gone one step further with the creation of Akvavit. Pelle has over 35 years’ experience as an executive chef for big hotels and restaurants, bringing all his knowledge together to make Akvavit one of the must-visit restaurants in the region.
With both outdoor and indoor dining with air-conditioning, the restaurant has been open nearly 4 years, benefitting from a prime location across from Jomtien Beach looking out across the crystal waters of the bay. The layout of the restaurant is warm and inviting and the food is a gastronomic delight on your senses.
The food brings the best tasting international cuisine directly to your palate, supremely presented and expertly cooked in a pristine kitchen that is one of the largest, and almost certainly the cleanest in Pattaya. Akvavit has menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner, but during the month of September, which is still the low-season tourist months, is open from 4pm on weekdays and open from 10am on weekends. From October onwards, the restaurant will be back open for breakfast at 8am every day. Also from October, there will also be a brand new A la carte menu for evening meals, so keep your eye out for that one.
The breakfast menu combines a succulent selection of international and Scandinavian breakfasts with health-conscious cereal dishes to create a diverse choice. All breakfasts only use the best quality of produce and will fill you up for a busy day ahead.
Sample the stunning Weekend Buffet for the price of 295 THB, starting at 12 midday, serving a vast choice of cold meats such as beef and ham, a stunning selection of salads, the ever-popular Swedish meatballs and much more. We would recommend you try out the buffet to get the true essence of the Akvavit repertoire.
Keeping it simple is an ethos that Pelle uses to create his tasty dishes. The highest quality produce cooked in the best way, perfect every time, is why the restaurant has become not only so popular, but also critically acclaimed. The lunch and dinner menus include lots of steak and meat dishes, most of which uses imported meats from Australia and Canada such as the Angus Beef Classic Hamburger and Canadian Rib-Eye Steak. Other popular main course dishes are the Scandinavian-inspired Toast Skagen, Texas-style Spare Ribs, grilled Salmon Fillet, and Lobster in White Wine Sauce. There is also a great selection of Thai food on the menu, perfect for those dining out with their Thai girlfriends and wives.
For the most delicious dining experience in Jomtien, with great views out across the beach and bay, the Akvavit Bar & Grill is a unique eatery that you simply must try when on holiday.
